Five standing out for Turner

Five standing out for Turner

Over the past few months, A.J. Turner's recruitment has exploded. The 2015 Clifton (Va.) Centreville running back spoke with Scout.com about his recruitment, future and more.

A.J. Turner is one of the most sought-after running backs in the country.

The Centreville standout's most recent visit was to Michigan State.

"I really liked it a lot," said the 5-foot-11, 187-pound Turner. "It was really organized and l liked the facilities. I feel like I have a good relationship with (defensive line) coach (Ron) Burton and coach (Mark) Dantonio, too.

"My favorite part of this visit was spending time with coach Dantonio. It was nice to hang out with the head coach and my family also got to talk to him. We talked about academics, the program – just everything. I really feel like they want me."

In regards to other visits this summer, Turner said he could possibly go to Florida State. That is the only trip he has in mind right now.

Although he is not ready to name his top schools, Turner admitted a group of schools have gotten his attention.

"Michigan State, Ohio State, Clemson, UVa and South Carolina are the schools that are standing out," Turner said. "They're all good programs and they all have a campus ministry program, which is really important to me."

He has a timeline for his recruitment.

"I'll probably narrow my list to five at the end of summer," he said. "If I have the opportunity to play in an All-American game, then I'll probably make my decision there.

"The mains factors are going to be academics, successful football program, the campus ministry at the school and playing time."
