Hampton picks the Gamecocks

The South Carolina Gamecocks picked up a huge commitment Saturday when Darlington HS three-star cornerback Victor Hampton selected the Gamecocks over Tennessee and North Carolina during the second quarter of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on NBC.

The 5-9, 168-pound Hampton picked up a Gamecock hat and put it on early in the second quarter of the game after briefly picking up a Tennessee hat.

Hampton was originally an early commitment to Florida, but Hampton and the Gators went their separate ways after he transferred from Independence HS in North Carolina to Darlington.

Check out GamecockAnthem.com later on as Scout.com is on the scene at the game and will have a full post-game interview with Hampton discussing his decision.

Hampton is the third cornerback in the class of 2010 to choose the Gamecocks, and the 20th commitment overall.
