USC's Lekote Named Male SEC Athlete of the Week

Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina junior Otukile Lekote was named the SEC Male Athlete of the Week for track and field. Lekote received this honor for his efforts last weekend at the SEC Challenge in Lexington, Ky. The Botswana native won the 800-meter run with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:46.88 ...

The 2002 Indoor and Outdoor 800m champion currently has the top time in the SEC and in the world this indoor season. Lekote has won the 800m run in all three meets he has competed in so far this season.

This is Lekote's first Athlete of the Week award and South Carolina's first men's indoor award since Terrence Trammell won it Feb. 9, 2000.
