Gamecocks add Peach State corner

The Gamecocks picked up a commitment from Troup (LaGrange, GA) cornerback Cadarious Sanders on Saturday evening at the Gamecock Showcase Camp. The 6-0, 185 pounder possesses an excellent combination of size and athleticism at cornerback, which is a position of priority for South Carolina in this class.

Sanders, who has been timed as fast as 4.4 seconds in the forty yard dash, chose South Carolina over offers from Ole Miss, Louisville, UCF, Southern Miss, and others.

According to Troup County head coach Bubba Jeter, Sanders is an excellent addition for the USC program.

"He's by far the fastest kid on our team... a legitimate 4.4/4.5 guy," Jeter said. "He's 6-feet, maybe 6-1, and about 185 pounds. He's a great cover corner who also can returns punts and returns kicks.

"Last year was the first year we used him in that (return specialist) role. When you get a kid who's a great cover corner and can return kicks, that's an added incentive to recruit that kid. He's really starting to get pretty doggone good at it."

Sanders is coming off a sterling junior season, where he consistently frustrated and locked down the opposing teams' best wide receiver.

"I only had two or three passes completed on me the whole year and nobody scored on me. I also gave our offense real good field position on my returns," Sanders noted in a previous Scout.com interview. "It was a good year."

The talented Peach State DB told GamecockAnthem.com recently that he has developed a strong relationship with former Gamecock cornerback Carlos Thomas, who spoke very highly of the South Carolina program when the two talked in recent weeks.

Troup County is one of the most talent-rich high school programs in the Peach State, having produced twenty-two college football signees in the past three years alone.

Sanders becomes the Gamecocks' fifteenth commitment in the 2010 recruiting class.
