Huge commitment: Eric Mack pulls the trigger

BREAKING: Coach Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks continued their big momentum on the recruiting trail today when Calhoun County (Saint Matthews, SC) four-star offensive lineman Eric Mack gave his verbal commitment to stay home and play for the University of South Carolina. Read inside as GamecockAnthem.com shares the details on this huge commitment for USC.
Eric Mack
, the nation's No. 5 rated offensive guard on Scout.com, has been a top priority for recruiter Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks since early in the process. Mack had previously said that he hoped to wait until national signing day next February to announce his college decision, but sources close to the premier lineman informed
GamecockAnthem.com
in recent weeks that the rising senior was growing tired of the recruiting process. That, combined with his good friends
A.J. Cann
, Alshon Jeffery, and
Brandon Golson
all electing to play their college ball at
South Carolina
, helped Mack decide to go ahead and pull the trigger on a commitment to the Gamecocks this evening.
Mack, who has developed a great relationship with USC offensive line coach Eric Wolford, told several close to him that he feels at home at South Carolina. The standout lineman chose the Gamecocks over offers from major programs like
Alabama
,
Auburn
,
Florida
,
Florida State
,
Tennessee
,
Oklahoma
,
Clemson
,
North Carolina
, NC State,
Georgia Tech
, and others.
He becomes the 14th commitment in South Carolina's 2010 recruiting class and joins fellow offensive line commits A.J. Cann, Tramell Williams, Cody Gibson, Ronald Patrick, Corey Robinson, and Elliot Williams to form what could be one of the best line classes in America this recruiting cycle.
