Whitlock arrested on trespassing charge

WINNSBORO – South Carolina cornerback C.C. Whitlock was arrested on trespassing charges by the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department following an incident at an area night club. According to a police report, officers responded to a call on May 23 at Club 330 off of Highway 321 in Blackstock near the Fairfield and Chester county lines.

Whitlock was placed under arrest after club security and the responding officers asked him to leave but he refused to do so.

He was charged with trespassing and the report noted the 20-year old Chester native had been drinking.

USC sports information director Steve Fink said coach Steve Spurrier was not aware of the situation and was en route to the annual SEC coaches meeting in Destin, Florida. There is no word on Whitlock's current status with the team. The sophomore was reinstated to the roster last week after being suspended from spring practice for not qualifying academically.

The 5-10, 173 pound sophomore arrived in Columbia in December 2007 after graduating early from high school. He came in as an offensive player but was shifted to the defensive secondary after the Wofford game last season. Whitlock saw time in nine games and recorded one tackle and one pass broken up. He is expected to challenge for major playing time after the departures of four secondary players from last year's squad.
