USC visit impresses Farms
Johnnie Farms, who measures in at a solid 6'2" and 280 pounds, thoroughly enjoyed his time in Columbia on Saturday and came away impressed with several aspects of South Carolina's football program.
"It was nice. That was my first time at one of South Carolina's home games. The atmosphere is real good. The crowd stays in it. It was a real nice place," said Farms. "I got to see the game and go down to the locker room after they finished. I talked with a few of the players, and I talked with Coach Gillespie. He told me he needed me there and that I'd have a chance to come in and play early."
Farms was also impressed with the Gamecocks' showing against the no. 2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs despite coming up short in a narrow 14-7 loss.
"It was a good game. South Carolina played good against Georgia. Georgia's highly ranked so I thought they might blow them out or something, but South Carolina's better than they played against Vanderbilt."
The elite Peach State prospect, who had made a previous visit to USC over the summer, said that his return trip to Columbia further helped the Gamecocks' standing with him.
"They helped their chances. It was a good game, and everybody was into it. It was a real nice visit."
According to Farms, he currently has a top list of schools, which includes Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, LSU, UCF, Oklahoma, and Georgia. However, out of that group Farms noted that three schools are currently pursuing him the hardest.
"Auburn, South Carolina, and UCF are recruiting me the hardest."
Farms is unsure of when he'll come to a decision on his college choice, but he does know of two key factors that he's looking for in a school.
"Playing time and the team itself. I'll look at what the team is capable of doing for the next couple years."
Next on the slate for Farms is a trip to the Plains to watch Auburn take on LSU this weekend.
