The Gamecocks picked up three wide receiver commitments over the weekend, including a verbal pledge from Camden County (Kingsland, GA) standout DeAngelo Smith. The elusive Peach State receiver has flown beneath the proverbial recruiting radar of many schools because he plays in a Wing-T offense, but according to Camden County Head Coach Jeff Herron, the Gamecocks have gotten a real steal in Smith.

DeAngelo Smith, who measures in at an athletic 6'0" and 170 pounds, became South Carolina's first wide receiver commitment of the 2009 class on Friday night when he gave his pledge to USC following the first annual Gamecock Showcase Camp. Smith is somewhat of an unknown commodity in the recruiting world because he plays in Camden County's Wing-T based offense and hasn't had many opportunities... Recommended Stories
