Ray Tanner will head home to his alma mater NC State for his tenth NCAA Baseball tournament appearance as head coach of the Gamecocks, and the ninth straight for the South Carolina baseball team (38-21). Carolina is one of only eight schools in the nation that has reached the NCAA Regional in the last nine consecutive years.

South Carolina (38-21) will be the #2 seed in Raleigh, and will face the #3 seed Charlotte (43-14) on Friday, with the game time yet to be announced.

This will be the second consecutive season that the Gamecocks and the 49ers face off in an NCAA regional, as the two teams faced each other in last year's regional in Columbia, South Carolina.

#1 seed and host school NC State will face #4 seed James Madison in the other opening round matchup.
