The Under Armour/Scout.com Combine hit South Florida this past Saturday and many of the state's…
Explosive Richardson is one of nation's best
5'9", 155 pound wide receiver Nu'Keese Richardson already had impressive offers from schools all around the country, such as Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina, Clemson, West Virginia, Michigan, and Wake Forest.
With the dynamic athlete's stock continuing to rise, three other national powers recently decided to throw their hat in the ring for the future four-star receiver's services.
"USC (Southern Cal), Georgia, and Tennessee (just offered)," Richardson said. "Basically those are my top five (along with South Carolina and Florida). They're going to be tough when it comes to making my decision."
While Richardson has not taken any recruiting visits recently, that doesn't mean he hasn't been keeping busy. The Pahokee High standout recently competed in the New Level Athletics/Scout.com 7-on-7 event in Tampa, Fl.
"Actually, we won the whole thing up there," Richardson said. "It went well. I missed the championship game, because I pulled my hamstring a little bit. Every game I had three to four touchdowns, though."
Richardson's performance led to him being named First Team All-Tournament by Scout.com's Mike Bakas.
"Nu'Keese Richardson showed everyone why many consider him the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the state this year. While he's only in the 5-10/160 range, he has tremendous game speed and explosiveness. He attacks the ball and just made big play after big play all day long," Bakas said.
Richardson's Team Florida 2 teammate and four-star quarterback Aaron Murray was named the MVP of the entire event. According to Richardson, he and Murray developed some chemistry with each other.
"I've been talking to Aaron Murray. He and I have a good connection. He put me up on some colleges, and I try to put him on some colleges I'm thinking of, too," Richardson said.
"He's trying to stay in-state, and basically with me, it doesn't matter, but I would prefer to go out-of-state. He likes the University of Georgia a lot (too), and I'm pulling him somewhere out-of-state like South Carolina, Southern Cal, or Tennessee."
Richardson says all of the top schools offering him bring a lot to the table. The elite Sunshine State playmaker broke down what he likes about some of the new schools in on him, as well as South Carolina.
Southern Cal: "They've produced a lot of NFL players. Pete Carroll has got a history, also, so that wouldn't be a bad choice for me going up there."
Georgia: "I don't know too much about them. I'm learning as I talk to the recruiter so I'm pretty interested in them."
South Carolina: "It's just Steve Spurrier himself; he's got a great history. And their offense, they run a lot of trick plays and stuff like that so I'm kind of used to that."
South Carolina running backs coach Robert Gilespie and the Gamecocks have been on Richardson the longest, and were at one time a public leader for the Sunshine State star.
Have the new offers changed the way Richardson feels about the Gamecocks?
"It's still true. They've still got a slight lead over all these big-time schools. Nothing's going to change," Richardson said. "It's (the lead) not too big, but if I had to make a decision today I would choose them (South Carolina)."
While Richardson is still very much interested in all the schools recruiting him, he says certain things stand out to him about South Carolina over the other contenders.
"Basically I've got a good relationship with the coaching staff. And with the playing time (and) what they're looking for in a player, I think I can fit right into their offense."
Richardson and his big brother will make the trip north two weekends from now to check out South Carolina's Garnet and Black spring game. Despite South Carolina's lead, Richardson ducked circulating rumors that a commitment at the game could be possible.
"I've still got a tough decision, so I'm just going to wait it out."
