Lawrence talks USC visit, sets announcement
The 6'1", 190 pound Lawrence, who runs a 4.5 second forty yard dash, said that his visit to South Carolina could not have gone much better and that the Gamecocks "definitely" helped their chances of landing him over the weekend.
"It was an 'A+.' It went very well," said Lawrence." I talked to the coaches and went out with some of the players. E. Cook and Shaq Wilson were my two hosts. We had a good time, a very good time."
Lawrence had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Head Coach Steve Spurrier on Sunday morning, and Spurrier made it clear that he views Lawrence as another piece to the puzzle in building an SEC Championship contender at South Carolina.
"I talked with Coach Spurrier. He was telling me how he wants to win another SEC Championship and how I'm a good caliber player that can help him do it."
The Head Ball Coach also told Lawrence that he'd have the potential to earn early playing time as a true freshman if he comes to USC.
"He told me that I'd have the possibility for early playing time next year, but he said that receivers must know every (receiver) position. I can agree with that. He said you're going to be moved around, and you've got to know where to go."
Lawrence's family has been outspoken in their support of the home-state Florida Gators throughout the recruiting process, but according to Lawrence, his family had a "good time" in Columbia over the weekend.
Lawrence will now turn his attention to his final official visit and then work on coming to a decision on his college choice, which he plans to announce on national TV on February 6th.
"I have one more visit to Michigan next weekend, and then I'll make my announcement. I want to make it on ESPN, so I'm not really allowed to say anything (about favorites). It's going to come on Signing Day."
The standout receiver closed by discussing what factors he will look for when deciding on his college choice.
"I'm just going to choose the place where I feel most at home and that I know is right for me."
