South Carolina head basketball coach Dave Odom is expected to retire, effective at the end of the season, sources have told GamecockAnthem.com.

Dave Odom will end his career as a head basketball coach when he completes his seventh season at South Carolina.

Odom, 65, is expected to make the announcement as soon as Friday. He has a regularly scheduled press conference on Friday.

Odom's team is 9-8 this season, and 1-2 in SEC play. South Carolina stopped a three-game losing skid with a road victory Wednesday night against SEC opponent Arkansas.

The Gamecocks were 14-16 a year ago, following two consecutive years in which the team won the NIT title. He also coached the team to one NCAA appearance.

Odom is 123-94 in six-plus seasons at South Carolina. He also spent 12 years at Wake Forest, where he was 240-132 with eight NCAA tournament appearances.
