Harbin talks visits, favorites
The 6'5", 240 pound Glenn Harbin, who was recently timed running a 4.6 second forty yard dash, discussed which schools he plans to visit this month and how things currently stand with his list of favorites..
"I'm going up to Alabama this weekend and North Carolina next week. I'm visiting South Carolina on the 21st and LSU on the following weekend. Then I'm going to Florida on February 2nd," said Harbin. "Those five are my top schools. All of them are about the same."
The nation's 40th ranked defensive end prospect shared what he likes about each of his five favorite schools.
Alabama - "I like the coaches and the environment."
North Carolina - "I like the campus up there. I've seen a lot of what they do and stuff."
South Carolina - "The coaches up there are good. I've talked to Coach Spurrier a couple times."
LSU - "I like the coaches down there, and it's a fun atmosphere."
Florida - "I like the environment down there."
According to Harbin, another factor that stands out about the Gamecocks is that he's developed a good relationship with Coach Ron Cooper, his USC recruiter, and he is very comfortable with him.
"Coach Cooper is recruiting me. He's a nice guy, and he's from Alabama also. He knows this state pretty well. He's a good guy."
Harbin, who racked up 79 tackles and 9.5 sacks in his senior season, is not sure of a timeframe for his decision right now, but he does know what factors he'll be looking for when the time comes to make his college choice.
"I guess I'm just going to (choose a school) based on how well I like it there and how comfortable I feel. Distance won't play a factor."
When asked to describe what type player he is on the football field, the quiet-spoken defensive end replied that he can wreak havoc against both the run and the pass.
"I bring a pretty good pass rush, and I can also play the run. I'm physical, but I'm faster than most offensive linemen too."
Harbin took part in the second annual Offense-Defense All-American game this past week, and he closed by discussing his experience down in Miami, FL.
"It was a lot of fun. I got to know a lot of the guys down there. I learned a lot."
Harbin, who is also a star baseball player and is considering playing both sports in college, reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 17 on the ACT.
