Peach State DL Planning Visits

Peach State DL Planning Visits

One of the top defensive line prospects in the Peach State's class of 2008 is busy planning visits for the remainder of the summer and into the fall. The athletic lineman has already been to Columbia twice to check out what the Gamecocks have to offer, but is a return trip to USC in the plans before deciding on his college choice? Read inside for more.

Northview (Duluth, GA) 3-star defensive tackle Cordian Hagans has held two SEC programs as fixtures among his list of favorites for the past several months, but with several other schools still showing him strong interest, the 6'6", 285 pound Hagans has decided to push back his original timeframe of committing by the end of the summer.

"(South Carolina and Auburn) are the two schools that I know the most about, but I'm still pretty open right now," said Hagans. "I want to take some more visits. I'm going to LSU on (July) 20th, and I want to take some official visits in the fall. I'll probably narrow my list down before the season starts. Then I‘ll probably make my decision around mid-season."

Hagans does not have any official visits set in stone yet, but he mentioned trips to Auburn, South Carolina, LSU and Boston College as possible destinations and shared what he likes about each of those four schools.

Auburn - "I went to camp there, and I really enjoyed their campus and working with their coaching staff. They really have great academic support and good academics."

South Carolina - "I was really impressed with their academics and their academic support. They have a real good coaching staff and a really good team. They're an up-and-coming team. I was just really impressed with what I saw when I went to visit them for their spring game."

LSU - "I don't really know too much about them, but I've watched them on TV, and I've been really impressed with what I saw. I just can't wait to see what they have to offer."

Boston College - "They're about the same as LSU. I've seen them on TV a couple times, but I don't really know too much about them. I'll learn more when I go visit them."

According to Hagans, he will look for a few key factors when the time comes to decide on his college choice.

"I'm going to choose the place that I feel the most at home at, where I fit in the most and the place that has the most to offer."

Hagans, who is being recruited by Coach Shane Beamer for the Gamecocks, racked up 56 tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 3 sacks as a junior last season. He has seen his offer list grow to eighteen schools over the summer, including a recent tender from Michigan State.
