The big day is finally here for Trinity Catholic (Ocala, FL) teammates Dion Lecorn and Antonio Allen…
Lecorn Talks USC Commitment
The 6'0, 205 pound Lecorn, who is considered one of the premier wide receiver prospects in the Sunshine State this year, talked about his decision to become a Gamecock.
"I committed to South Carolina today," said Lecorn. "It really came down to Coach Spurrier being there, and with me being a wide receiver, that was the best place I could go."
The opportunity for early playing time also played an important factor in his decision to attend USC, according to Lecorn.
"They're saying it looks pretty good, especially now that Sidney Rice has left. They said that I'm one of the receivers they want to get on the field next year early."
Lecorn, who becomes the newest jewel in USC's star-studded wide receiver class, has one simple goal for his freshman season in Columbia.
"I‘m ready for it. I really just want to get up there and get as much playing time as I can next year."
Lastly, Lecorn wanted to pass on a message to the Gamecock Nation.
"Get ready, because a superstar is coming."
Lecorn chose the Gamecocks over offers from Ole Miss, LSU, Central Florida, and South Florida. He and teammate Antonio Allen become USC's 28th and 29th commitments in the 2007 recruiting class.
