Vance Enjoys Visit, Maintains Top Two
The Gamecocks already have two offensive line commitments on board for the 2007 recruiting class, but there is one key target remaining that the Gamecocks are hoping to land. That would be Georgia Military mammoth offensive tackle Vince Vance, who made an official visit to South Carolina over the weekend.
Vance entered into the visit claiming South Carolina and Georgia as his top two teams, and the Gamecocks only helped their chances by showing Vance a good time over the weekend.
"It was real nice. I had a lot of fun. I visited every little building they had and hung out with players. On Saturday we went to the game and had a good time."
The 6'8, 310 pound Vance, who took in his second USC game of the season on Saturday, said that South Carolina's game day atmosphere has a big time, SEC feel to it.
"It's just like any SEC stadium. It had a lot of fans, and it was real loud. It was a real good atmosphere."
According to Vance, he received the full attention of the Carolina coaches while on campus, and they assured him of the potential for early playing time next season.
"I talked to almost every last one of them. I talked to Coach (John) Hunt for a long time. I talked to Coach (Steve) Spurrier. I talked to a lot of them. They're telling me they want me to come in and start at left tackle for them."
Vance, who will graduate from Georgia Military next month, says that South Carolina and Georgia still comprise his top two, and he will look to make a decision sometime after his visit to Georgia next weekend.
"It's still down to South Carolina and Georgia, and next weekend I'll visit Georgia. I'm not really sure on a timeframe, but I'll look to make a decision sometime after (I visit Georgia)."
