Brinkley Named SEC D-Lineman of the Week
Casper Brinkley

Posted Oct 23, 2006

South Carolina junior defensive end Casper Brinkley has been the lesser publicized of the two Brinkley brothers this season, but on Saturday afternoon against the Vanderbilt Commodores, Casper made his presence felt, as he terrorized the Commodore offense throughout the game.

The 6'3, 260 pound Thomson (GA) native totaled six tackles, including five solo stops, and he was credited with four tackles for loss, including two sacks and a forced fumble on Saturday.

Casper Brinkley was awarded on Monday with SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors for his play against the Commodores.

Brinkley's performance anchored the stout Gamecock defense that held the surging Commodore offense to 253 yards of total offense and a mere 13 points.

Brinkley and the Gamecocks will now turn their attention to Tennessee, as they will play host to the Volunteers in a critical division showdown this Saturday.
