Charges Dropped Against Blake Mitchell

USC quarterback Blake Mitchell is a free man. The simple assault charge that had been filed against him by a Five Points bouncer has been dropped.

Mitchell's hearing was scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday, and he was present in Columbia Municipal Court when Kylan Ertzberger, the 19 year old bouncer for Pavlov’s who brought the complaint against Mitchell, formally withdrew his complaint.

At the request of Pavlov’s owners James Bigby and W.B. Ewing Jr., Mitchell had to agree to stay away from Pavlov's, the bar where the incident took place, under a no trespass order agreed to by the judge. Mitchell's attorney Neal Lourie also agreed the quarterback would stay away from the local bar.

Neither Mitchell or Ertzberger were available for comment after the hearing.

Head Coach Steve Spurrier said this morning that Mitchell would be on the sideline in jersey with no pads for Saturday’s game against Wofford. He will return to practice next week and will be available for the Florida Atlantic game on September 23.
