Final Open Practice Has Concluded

Head coach Steve Spurrier addressed the media following the workout:

On how the weather affected practice:
"It wasn't bad. There was lightning was all around and it's still around. We had a pretty spirited practice and hopefully we got a little accomplished."

On the status of Sydney Rice:
"Sydney is going to try to practice next week we believe. His finger should be close to where he can practice."

On the season opening in two weeks: "We're two weeks away from the season opener. We're about where we should be."

On the additions to the roster with school starting Thursday: "We'll bring six or 10 new walk-ons but I don't expect them to be a lot of help. Maybe in the future they will be."

On the status of suspended running back Cory Boyd:
"Cory is going to start practicing once the season starts. He's not going to be here tomorrow. He'll be here once the season starts."

The Gamecocks will practice again on Thursday afternoon from 4-6:30 p.m. as classes get underway on the USC campus. All practices will be closed to the media and to the public.

INJURY REPORT: Those sidelined in the yellow jerseys include Sydney Rice (broken left little finger), Gurminder Thind (neck), Lanard Stafford (shoulder stinger), Nathan Pepper (sprained left ankle), Eric Stroman (left elbow), Michael Flint (broken right hand) and Chris White (right foot sprain). Jared Cook (left foot sprain) did not dress.
