Highly Rated CB/Ath Names His Criterion

This highly rated all-around athlete sets the bar high when talking about what he is looking for in a school. With no real hints about where he might be leaning, the Gamecocks obviously fit the bill ...

Chevis Jackson is one of the top 2-Way athletes in the state of Alabama this year. As a receiver he finished his junior campaign with 45 catches for 850 yards and nine touchdowns, and he had 41 tackles, two interceptions, and six forced fumbles as a cornerback. Where he plays on the next level will depend upon several factors.

"I'm looking at the environment, the coaching staffs and the other incoming players as factors in my decision," said wide receiver/safety Jackson.

With the Gamecocks in dire need of talented cornerbacks from the 2004 campaign, Chevis has to consider USC a strong candidate - and he has implied as much in recent interviews. But on which side of the ball does he prefer to play?

"I'm being recruited for both sides of the football and I don't have a preference just as long as I get to play," added Jackson.

South Carolina's Dave Roberts visited with the talented athlete the day before the Ole Miss game in Oxford. Jackson is high on the Gamecocks' list and the 6-1, 180 pounder out of St Pauls Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama knows it. He has promised a visit to South Carolina and the Gamecock coaches like their chances if they get him in during the big weekend.

"After all of my visits, I will commit to the school that has the most of everything I'm looking for," finished Jackson.

Based on his own criterion, the Gamecocks obviously fit the bill nicely.
