51 Days: Waldrop on Rimington Trophy List

It just so happens to be exactly 51 days until the Gamecocks kick-off against the Aggies in Columbia. No. 51 on South Carolina's roster stands as sophomore Center Cody Waldrop, who dropped in on the Rimington Trophy watch list for this fall.

University of South Carolina center Cody Waldrop is one of 66 players named to the Rimington Trophy fall watch list.

A 6-foot-2, 309-pound sophomore from Seffner (Fla.), Waldrop is noted to be the Gamecocks starting center in 2014.

As a redshirt freshman in 2013, Waldrop started six games while battling injuries for much of the season. A member of the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, Waldrop was recognized during the 2013 spring game as the Most Improved Freshman on the offensive side of the ball.

The Rimington Trophy is annually presented to the Most Outstanding Center in Division I-A College Football.

Dave Rimington was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.

The 14-year old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation and has raised over $2.5 million for the cystic fibrosis community.
