Visit Quest

Jeremy Tyler

Georgia safety Jeremy Tyler made visits to his two favorites over the past two weekends. What did the visits reveal, and where did it leave him in the recruiting process?

Tyler made a trip to West Virginia on the weekend of Jan. 18, and followed that up with a visit to Vanderbilt the following weekend. He saw much to like about both destinations, and said that while he learned a lot, he's still debating both as a potential college choice.

"West Virginia, it was just a cool place," he related. "It's a college town, and all about the team. The players and Coach Gillespie really stood out too. I just liked the whole atmosphere.

"I came in with some high expectations, and I wasn't surprised by anything I saw. I liked it."

Gillespie, in particular, had a strong impact on the high school senior.

"He's a great coach, and he's straight with you. He tells you like it is, even if it's something you might not want to hear. He's honest, and doesn't try to mislead you. And he's funny, too."

At Vanderbilt, Tyler also got the full visit treatment, and was likewise impressed.

"It was a good visit too. They had a lot of information on the school, and I learned a lot down there. I really had fun. It seemed like a good fit for me."

While the Commodores and Mountaineers had appeared to be the two finalists in the race, Tyler said another school could still make a push.

"Texas Tech has been showing some interest, and I might visit there this weekend. I have to wait to see what happens."

Tyler has not set a timetable for his decision, but does have some criteria in mind that will help him make his choice.

"I want to have a good fit with the players that are there, and I want to have a coaching staff that will help me grow as a man, and develop my abilities," he listed. "I'll talk some with my parents, but the decision is on me. They will support whatever my decision is."
