Commits Discuss Addazio's Departure

Steve Addazio

Temple is looking for a new coach after Steve Addazio left for Boston College, and several of the Owls committed players gave their thoughts.

The news of unexpectedly losing their future coach sent a ripple across Temple's committed members in the 2013 class.

Steve Addazio's abrupt departure to take over the head coaching position at Boston College has caused a range of responses.

"I am a Temple Owl Commit, Not a Steve Addazio Commit," Montour High (Mc Kees Rocks, Pa.) defensive tackle Tyler Haddock text to FOXSportsNEXT. "Temple is my home."

However, Paul VI High (Haddonfield, N.J.) athlete Zach Grant is taking a wait-and-see approach.

"I'm still riding with Temple but from this standpoint I have a more open mind," Grant said.

Several of the committed players were scheduled to make an official visit this weekend, and as of today those visits are still going to be made.

"I think it's a shocker. something that I didn't expect but you never know," Blair Academy (Blairstown, N.J.) running back Jihaad Pretlow said. ""Right now I'm still an Owl, and I look forward to going there this weekend to find out more on the situation and gather my thoughts.

"As for the other 15 guys that are committed, I hope they feel the same as me. We have the power to turn this program into something special with this class no matter who the coach is, the reason being is the fact that we have the talent to compete."

Pretlow added he was curious to see the reaction of the committed players.

"It's going to be exciting to see how we respond together as a class to this adversity because it can begin to mold which direction this program is going," he said. "The way I look at it is we are in the driver's seat."

Another commit ready to visit this weekend is Monacan High (Richmond, Va.) outside linebacker Connor Wingo-Reeves.

"I just know coach Addazio accepted the head coaching job at BC," he said. "I am still taking my official visit to Temple this weekend."
