Marcell Harris Says Yes to UF

The University of Florida continues to fill its needs for the 2013 recruiting class. Head coach Will Muschamp and the Gators have added yet another top player from the Southeast.

Marcell Harris checks in at 6'2 and 200-pounds from Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips High School. Harris had offers from the top tier programs such as Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, South Florida, Temple, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia. Long thought to be a Florida Texas battle Harris decided to play for Will Muschamp and the Gators.

Check out Harris in action from his Junior season.

This past April Harris was invited to The Opening after participating in the Orlando NFTC. Harris is coming off an impressive junior season that included 96 tackles, six forced fumbles, four blocked field goals, three interceptions, one kick-off return and one fumble return.

What the Gators get in Harris is another physical defensive back with a linebacker type mentality. He has multiple skill sets to defend against the pass and the run. This is a huge addition for an already strong defensive class for head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Harris has the type of frame that would allow him to ultimately play in the 210-215 range while still maintaining his athletic ability in passing situations.
