South Carolina moves up in the Associated Press Poll this week for their highest ranking since 2007 after defeating East Carolina in the home opener for the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks took care of business this week with an impressive 48-10 victory over the East Carolina Pirates.

Steve Spurrier's offense was impressive through the air thanks to first-time starter Dylan Thompson, who threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns. The defense chipped in with five turnovers as well for the resounding victory for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina's victory combined with Arkansas' upset loss to Louisiana-Monroe allowed the Gamecocks to move up this week in the Associated Press Poll to the number eight ranking in the country.

This is South Carolina's highest AP Poll ranking since 2007 when the Gamecocks checked in at number six after defeating North Carolina to improve their record to 6-1. The Gamecocks are one of four teams in the AP Poll this week.

South Carolina will stay at Williams-Brice this week as they host UAB in a televised contest on Fox Sports Network. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
