Gamecock Anthem's Adam Garrett caught up with 2014 OL recruit Donell Stanley and got the latest on his summer and his recruitment.
2014 OL recruit
Donell Stanley
has had a busy summer visiting several schools along the way and is getting prepared for his upcoming football season.
Here's an interview with him on the latest on his recruitment with Adam Garrett:
Adam Garrett:
How's your summer been? How have you been preparing for this upcoming season?
Donell Stanley:
"Summer was good. I got a chance to visit a couple of schools and been hitting the weightroom very hard. I'm working on technique and footwork on a daily basis. Now we are preparing for our first game on Friday. We're ready."
AG:
What's the latest on your recruitment? Is there a list of schools that stands out for you right now?
DS:
"I'm enjoying the recruiting and taking it all in stride. I'm blessed to be in my position and every offer is cherished. I'm looking for more schools to come and look at some of my teammates. We all have been working very hard."
"I don't really have a top five but I've visited USC,Clemson,LSU,Bama,N.C.State and UNC and enjoyed each visit."
AG:
In regards to
South Carolina
, is there anything about the Gamecocks program that sticks out?
DS:
"For one, it's close to home which is a plus also the program is on the rise and they have a good thing going. I love talking to coach Elliott and I was up there for the lineman camp in July. He's very intense and knows what he is doing. He's a great man."
AG:
Got any plans to make it to a USC game this fall?
DS:
"Yeah, we will be down for a couple of games. I try to take one of my teammates every time I go for them to experience it all also. We usually have a good time going to the different games. I told them that was my thanks to them for being a loyal teammate."
AG:
Anything else you'd like to mention in closing?
DS:
"The high school team is working very hard and we are looking to win a few more games this year."
Stanley also wanted to mention his high school teammates, or as he called them his "brothers." He definitely has respect for his teammates and is looking to help them out during his recruitment by using his highly-recruited status to increase interest for them as well.
Stanley and his Latta Vikings face off against Wagener-Salley in the season opener on Friday, August 17th. They are looking to improve on last season's 2-8 record.
