Rising redshirt-sophomore injures knee in summer league game.

South Carolina men's basketball redshirt-sophomore forward Carlton Geathers has sustained a right knee cap fracture, which will require surgery, and is expected to be out of practice and game action for a minimum of six months, first-year head coach Frank Martin announced on Monday.

Geathers suffered the injury in a summer pro-am league game in Columbia on Thursday, July 19.

Geathers saw action in 28 contests with one start during his redshirt-freshman campaign of 2011-12. The Georgetown, S.C., native averaged 1.0 point, 1.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 7.8 minutes per contest.
