Pitching situation reversed

Posted Jun 28, 2011

It's ace vs. freshman again. But this time the roles are reversed.

Going into Monday night's game one of the College World Series championship series, the pitching match-up was decidedly in Florida's advantage. Staff ace Hudson Randall was set to face off with freshman Forrest Koumas, who hadn't made an appearance in the CWS.

Tuesday night, the roles will reverse.

South Carolina ace left-hander Michael Roth (13-3, 0.98 ERA) will face Florida freshman Karsten Whitson (8-0, 2.43 ERA).

With the 2-1 victory Monday, South Carolina is just one win away from successfully defending its national title.

First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
