Gamecocks Sign Broome To NLI

The University of South Carolina football team has signed junior college offensive lineman Kaleb Broome to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today.

Kaleb Broome, a 6-6, 320-pounder, has spent the past two years at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga. He was recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association's first-team All-America squad. He played offensive guard during his first season at GMC, but moved to right tackle for his sophomore campaign, where he allowed just once sack all season. Broome is a 2009 graduate of Aiken (S.C.) High School where he played for the Hornets and head coach Cary Johnson.

"The atmosphere of playing at South Carolina is going to be exciting. I'm from South Carolina, it's my home state," Broome told GamecockAnthem.com. "I grew up a Gamecock fan. It's going to be like a dream, it's going to be awesome. This is what I've been working for since I was in middle school. It's always been a dream of mine, and I'm ready for the challenge. I've been through a lot to be where I am now."

Broome is expected to arrive on the Columbia campus when the spring semester begins in January. A Rivals.com three-star prospect, he also had a scholarship offer from East Carolina University. He will have three years to play two at South Carolina.
